Georgies Midrange Clays (Cone 4-7)

Midrange clays, which include stoneware and some porcelains, are more durable than earthenware clays but color palettes for glazing them may be more limited. (The bright colors available at lowfire temperatures are more difficult to achieve at midrange temperatures.) Unless otherwise noted, these sample pictures show the clay colors after oxidation firing in an electric kiln. Midrange clays are considered foodsafe, even when unglazed, when the clay is fired to its full maturity at cone 5-6.
