Phishers & Hackers & Thieves, Oh My!

Every few weeks we read news reports about Internet hackers, phishers, scammers and thieves. The reports are alarming to begin with, and they're made even more so by the near-hysterical tone of many reports. Given this atmosphere of sensationalized fear, it's no wonder that you may hesitate to purchase products online. It's a fair question: when we ask for your credit card information, are we setting you up for con artists and thieves?

The answer is a resounding NO.

Your transaction with Georgies website is completely secure. Our shopping cart service utilizes 128-bit encryption and SSL site security for your personal information. Your personal data cannot be misdirected or hijacked by another site claiming to be "www.georgies.com". Even if the data signal was intercepted, it couldn't be read because the data is scrambled and coded. From the moment your personal information leaves your computer on its way to ours, it is held under tight lock and key. We even use secure websites and programs on our end to retrieve and download the information you send.

The vast majority of fraud committed on the Internet is the work of people using stolen physical cards, copied card numbers, or stolen charge slips and receipts. Studies by major credit card companies have shown that it's riskier to hand your credit card to a waitperson at a restaurant than to buy products through a secured website. To further minimize the risk of unauthorized access to your card info, we do not hold or store your credit card information in our files unless you specifically ask us to for future orders.

For your additional security, credit card companies will not hold you responsible for fraudulent charges as long as you report them as soon as you find them. It's just a good practice to keep an eye on your credit card and bank statements.

Maintaining Your Privacy

When you place an order with Georgies, we may add your physical address and your email address to our mailing lists. We use these mailing lists to send out physical newsletters (roughly 4 times a year) and email newsletters (every 4-6 weeks) to our customers. If you prefer not to receive these newsletters, please let us know by phone, fax or email. We will process your request for removal promptly.

We do not sell, trade, barter or share our customer lists with anyone, anywhere, anytime. Period.
