Duncan Crystal Glazes

Crystaltone Glazes (the Duncan 2000 series and CR900s) are opaque gloss colors loaded with color crystals that melt and run during the firing process. These exciting professional glazes produce dazzling special effects. The CR900s are all nontoxic, but the 2000-series glazes contain small amounts of soluble lead. The 2000-series jar labels bear cautionary warnings about handling and using them. Always refer to the product label for safety information.

Duncan & Mayco Crackle Glazes

Formulated to create patterns of cracks similar to crazing, Crackle Glazes result in a unique antique look. To highlight the cracks created in firing, antique the piece with ink, acrylic paint, or a mineral-spirit-based woodstain. Apply a coat of the desired color to the fired piece and wipe off with a soft cloth. Although crackle glazes are nontoxic, they are not practical for food or drink containers because of their surface characteristics.
