SKUTT
KILNS are our most popular kiln line, and the most widely-used, best-built
kilns in the industry. Potters, schools, ceramicists, dollmakers, contemporary
studios -- everyone loves Skutt kilns! With the introduction of the KilnMaster
computerized controller in the mid-90s, Skutt revolutionized firing. The original
is still the best! We provide full technical support on Skutt kilns, and keep
many parts in stock. Witth Skutt located right here in Portland, we have no
trouble getting parts or information. For more detailed specifications on
any kiln, just contact Georgies.
How
to Choose Which Kiln is Right for You
We
have many years experience in matching the right kiln to artists' needs. We'll
be happy to help you too! To begin, just answer these five questions, based
on your workspace and your firing needs:
1. How much space do you have available? Skutt kilns need 18" clearance
from walls on all sides.
2. How much firing capacity do you need? What are the dimensions of the
largest piece you fire? How many at once, or in what timeframe? And how do you
feel your firing needs will grow in the next five years?
3. To what temperature would you like to fire? Glass only? Lowfire clays?
Stoneware? Porcelain?
4. What power supply do you have available? What is your building's voltage,
and how many amps are available?
5. Would you prefer a kiln with manual or electronic controls?
