Contrast Plates for 2009

NEW: Combo MamboColor WheelCrossover PlatesTesting Madness

In addition to color, contrast, complement and combination, the surfaces of your glazes can add new dimensions of interest and richness to your work. For this year we wanted to experiment with surfaces, too. Putting two variants of the same color together, side-by-side with gloss and matte surfaces, can be very striking -- and your palette of creative possibilities has just expanded that much more! We made the following sample plates to show just some of the possibilities.

Contrast Plates for 2009

For these test plates, we applied two-coat horizontal stripes and 1-stroke vertical coats of each glaze, and fired to cone 6. Clay color interacts with and changes glaze colors at cone 6, so your choice of clay body will change your color results.
