White-Cast Dry Slip (Six Bag Blend) CS130

This
is the typical recipe for slip mixing. Recipes differ between manufacturers
only in which talc, ball clay or flux they use. Georgies sells one reliable
formula, but we can make or supply others. Six-Bag Blend is a 2100-pound
ton that supplies 7 batches. Please call for price quotes on orders of
five tons or more.
This dry mix does not include Sodium Silicate, Soda
Ash or Barium Carbonate,
which are crucial to making the slip work. |

White-Cast Dry Slip (Premixed) CB130

This
dry blend is exactly like the Six-Bag Blend. It has all the same components,
but we have run them thru a ribbon blender to mix them together, like
a cake mix, and bagged the results in 50-pound units.
This dry mix does not include Sodium Silicate, Soda
Ash or Barium Carbonate,
which are crucial to making the slip work. |

White-Cast Liquid Slip (CL130: gallon jugs)
 |
| Georgies'

body, ease of deflocculation and economical price. Your molds will produce
good detail with a moderate setting time with White Cast. (In UPS-shippable
plastic jugs of one gallon each, or cases of 4 gallons.) |

to your preference as you mix it.
This dry mix does not include Sodium Silicate, Soda

Natural White Stoneware Liquid Slip (SS600: gallon jugs)
 |
| A
fantastic aid to potters when you have add-ons or parts to assemble
for your work! This stoneware slip uses the same clay formula as our
popular G-Mix 6 clay, so it's ready to help you with attachments, slip
trailing, colored slip work, or... let your imagination roam. Also ready
to stir and use for traditional casting uses, like making your own dinnerware.(In UPS-shippable
plastic jugs of one gallon each, or cases of 4 gallons.) |
|
Silver Falls Porcelain Liquid Slip (CL519: gallon jugs)
 |
| We
now make our own porcelain slip, based on the clay formula in our Silver
Falls cone 6 porcelain body. Just like our Natural White Stoneware,
this slip can be a fantastic aid for you in attaching fussy porcelain
add-on parts. You can also color it with Mason Stains or Seeleys porcelain
tints for ornaments, doll parts, or.... set your creativity free to
roam. (In UPS-shippable plastic jugs of one gallon each, or cases of 4 gallons.) |

Slip Additives
These
components are the thinning agents that hold the clay particles in liquid
suspension. When mixing your slip, over-thinning (aka overdeflocculation)
is a major concern. If you use too much of these ingredients, your greenware
may be grainy, fragile, and difficult to handle or work with. Over-thinning
errors often can't be corrected -- meaning your entire batch of slip,
and the money you spent on the raw materials, all goes to waste.
Use SODIUM SILICATE sparingly: do not add it all at once! Add it only
as needed for your slip to perform according to the tests below, in our Slip Usage Guide. If you reach the maximum amount of sodium
silicate for your batch size and the slip still does not flow at the desired
rate, you can add DARVAN at up to 1 liquid ounce per 100 dry pounds of
slip mix. Remember: you can always add more, but you can't take it
back out!

The Occupational Health &
Safety Administration created this color-coded numerical ratings system to
quickly and easily summarize the levels of risk through various means of exposure
to potentially hazardous chemicals. Material Safety Data Sheets contain more
detailed information about any risks posed by chemicals or raw materials,
along with handling, cleanup and first aid instructions. Georgies maintains
a library of MSDS forms for the materials we sell. To request copies, please
contact us by phone, fax or email. |
