Laguna makes dozens of different clay blends. We stock the best sellers for our area in our Portland warehouse. Our Eugene store also has limited stock of these clays.

For special-order items or quantities greater than our stock levels, we order from Laguna on or about the 10th of each month. B-Mix 10 (LAB)

A premier cream-white throwing clay that is easy to throw and form. Excellent glaze results. Fires grey/white in reduction and lighter in oxidation. Smooth porcelain-y texture. (Stock in Portland.)

B-Mix 10 with Grog (LABG)

The substitution of a very fine grog for the sand in B-Mix 10 w/Sand provides a smoother fired texture and less speckling. (Stock in Portland.)

The addition of 10% fine feldspathic sand allows for a body with some texture. Fires grey/white when reduced and off-white when oxidized. Some speckling may occur. (Stock in Portland.)

Big White (LA381)

A grey/white clay with large throwing properties. 60 mesh sand and 30 to 60 mesh grog allow for strength. Fires grey in reduction and light buff/white in oxidation. Also excellent for raku. (Stock in Portland)

Dark Brown (LA373)

A medium coarse, dark clay with 60 mesh sand. Turns deep brown in reduction and brown in oxidation. Good for various forming techniques. (Stock in Portland)

A cone 10 version of the cone 6 Frost porcelain. Very white, friendly to throw and translucent when construction is thin. (Stock in Portland)

LB Blend (Long Beach) (LA376)

An excellent, very fluid throwing clay, extremely popular for throwing open forms from small to large. Brownish-pink in its raw form, light brown in reduction and buff in oxidation. The formula includes iron and 60 mesh sand. (Stock in Portland)

Los Altos (LA872)

This is a slightly coarse clay which contains 60 mesh sand. It has excellent properties for all forming methods, and fires to a rich orange-brown color in medium reduction. (Stock in Portland)

Rod's Bod (LA823)

Gray in the raw form with a medium sand texture. A popular body for general purpose use. Large and thick-walled pieces are prone to cracking. In light to medium reduction, fires to a warm brown with iron specks which generally bleed into glazes (forming brown specks). (Stock in Portland.)

Soldate 60 (LAS60)
